Accessibility
Our target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This is a design and testing goal, not a claim that the site has received independent conformance certification.
Select squares, search suggestions, open clues, and close dialogs without a pointer.
Interactive controls use a high-contrast focus indicator and logical reading order.
Clue images have descriptive text; decorative answer photos use the adjacent answer name.
Animations and transitions are minimized when the device requests reduced motion.
Content pages reflow from wide desktop layouts to a 320px minimum viewport.
A keyboard-visible skip link moves directly to the main page content.
Keyboard reference
Playing without a pointer
Use Tab and Shift + Tab to move through controls.
- Enter / Space
- Select a square or open a clue explanation.
- ↑ / ↓
- Move through answer suggestions.
- Escape
- Close suggestions, clue explanations, or dialogs.
Known limitations
The 3×3 board is intentionally dense. At high zoom or on very small screens, the header navigation scrolls horizontally and clue text is available through separate explanation controls. We are continuing to improve dense-board readability.
How this was checked
The current release is manually reviewed in Chromium at 1645×873 and 390×844, including keyboard focus, dialogs, FAQ disclosures, reflow, and horizontal overflow. This is not a complete browser or assistive-technology certification.
